About the Authors

An older white woman smiles at you. She has white hair and dark glasses. Her sweater is black speckled with white, a reindeer made with silver and gold beads leaps across it. A silver microphone extends in front of her.

Deby Fredericks has been a writer all her life, but thought of it as just a fun hobby until the late 1990s. Her first sale, a children’s poem, was in 2000. Since then she has published several fantasy novels and many short stories through independent presses and magazines.

Writing as Lucy D. Ford, she has published short fiction and poetry for children in such magazines as Boys’ Life, Babybug, Ladybug, Spider and Cricket Magazines. She is a past Regional Advisor for the Inland Northwest Region of S.C.B.W.I.

Fredericks’ most significant project is Minstrels of Skaythe, a high fantasy novella series featuring a group of good mages who try to defeat their evil counterparts without resorting to violence. Currently she is working on a middle grade fantasy duology.
