My busy September is coming to a close. It’s kind of a relief.
The biggest thing was SpellBound Spokane, a half-day book fair hosted by Page 42, a local used book store. They’ve been working hard to hold these little fairs for authors, artists and crafters and I want to support that. Of course, I also have a resolution to make in-person appearances and this helped meet that.
I’ve applied to Page 42’s events before, but this is the first time they accepted me. I was excited and nervous, wanting to make a good impression. One different thing is that most of my appearances are in shops or conventions, where the venue provides the chairs, tables, etc. This time I had to make more of an investment, buying my own table and a cool market umbrella that lights up inside. But at the last minute I was moved to a space where I couldn’t use the umbrella. Now I’m wondering whether to return it or keep it for future need.
Despite that minor thing, the event went well. If I hadn’t bought the umbrella, I would have broken even at least. I hope to be at future Page 42 events, anyhow.
Looking ahead, I’ve received the proof and draft cover from Wolfsinger for The Eighth Order. Once I get unpacked from SpellBound and catch up on a few chores, I’ll be getting to those. For the moment, though, I’m happy to catch my breath.
